I woke up around 3 am and got this very weird feeling that I haven’t experienced for such a very long time, “Aha! It feels like a back to school day, except that mom’s not there to nag (a typical setting for most Filipino kids)” hahaha! It’s been a long time when I woke up like this so early in the morning; my typical early in morning standard wake up time is 6 pm based on my previous job experience as a call center agent. Suddenly I reverted to the same person during my college days, slow and no organized system of prepping things up before leaving and I’m still lost in sorting out what to do 1st and what’s next. It really feels like a back to school day; it has the same drive, and that’s to be a better person someday, but the only difference is, there’s no one to hand me my allowance anymore… I need to get up and leave for me to hand myself an allowance when payday comes (too bad that there’s no one there anymore that will nag you not to spend it the wrong way, toinks). The traffic is somehow smooth and the weather is a bit cold, and it’s kinda weird that I can appreciate now how the sun rises from the eastern side of the road… “It feels good to be a morning person again…even just for a week,” I said while trying to ponder about what to expect for the 1st day of training. I kept my silence for some time till I arrive at my destination and still, my mind was blank as a new sheet of paper, then I said “Hello Monday! Just surprise me!” And days after that became so epic, it’s epic that it made me feel so alive again (my face can’t express how life look like that much so don’t try to look for me and ask me do I make my alive face).

I was expecting very boring topics about the company at 1st, things like this who we are, this is what we do, this is how we are, this is where to go when you need things like this and like that and all of you are expected to be good like we require you to be… but no, the class didn’t start that way, we hear a very inspiring talk about how to start our careers in this new workplace, and they referred it as an organization and not a company, and that gives a good sound that they wanted us to feel that we will work as a team… “They need people and not robots!” I screamed inside my head and they wanted us to address everyone with their 1st name and not sir or ma’am, a good way to establish tightness and discard awkwardness when it comes to establishing communication. They even referred to us as associates and not agents, something that gave us a feeling that we are a part of the business and not just someone that works in the organization wherein I even blurted a question like “What kind of stunt is this?” Inside my mind… but their actions say it, I felt that they mean it and from that point, that convinced me that the culture here is amazing and it’s something that can’t be found anywhere. The 1st day feels like it was more about reviving our demotivated feeling from our previous work experience and that has something about the main purpose of the new hire foundations training… unlearn, relearn, and learn wherein for me, it is more than that, I started to feel alive again, I started to see new hope in my career. 2nd day until the last day was also remarkable, it feels like they’re building us up again as a new person, every activity is fun and it also feels like I spent the whole week having a vacation in a summer camp with amazing team building activities. I felt their full support from the start, they gave us our gear on our 2nd day, it’s a box filled with things we needed as an associate and it’s for us to have fun learning without having things to worry like, I forgot my pen, tumbler notebook or anything because all the things that we need is inside the box they gave us and it is very organized in a way that you can’t forget anything as long as you make sure that you have your box with you; I can find anything to compare it with but it’s like a rifle that they give you as a trainee before you go to battle(this example sounded like someone’s going to a battlefield and I apologize for my trouble looking for a pleasant example); well I will survive as long as I have it with me (whoa! It really sounds like a rifle hehehe). The discussions are so engaging that I don’t wanna leave the room to visit the loo or get some water outside since most of the topics are interesting (the truth is, I just don’t want to miss out some punch lines as well) and I also like the way how the topic flows, I’m starting to get the big picture and understand how the organization runs and how the activities that we’re doing is very important towards the success of the organization … Then I realized at that moment, that my mind works like a newly opened faucet with muddy water running out of it and it gets clearer as long as I let my mind more opened and let the discussion flow freely through my ears and learn as many as I could. This past week went so smooth that I lost track of the days, I’m so happy that gained new friends and earned new things that will inspire me through my adventure.

What I can share about the facilitator? I can’t tell you that much, it’s something that you need to experience and find out yourself. I can also say that we are lucky enough to have him as the facilitator, he got lots of stuff to show you and I’m sure that you’ll enjoy most of it; all you need to do is to sit down and listen and let him surprise and inspire you. He also experienced what I or you’ve experienced, like how I was so demotivated from my previous job and started to look for a better place where I can start again (Oh, here it plays again inside my mind “and I found it here in Ingram Micro” as the person in the video said). All folks inside the organization are nice (and it’s beyond the regular nice by the way), from the guards up to the managers, but what made him different is you can find it easy to build a conversational connection with him, since I don’t know if it’s just me, but I can sense a strong comic power… not cosmic power, but comic power wherein being funny is his power to get our attention in the class (Sometimes I’m wondering if he’s the same person who did my final interview at the job expo but it feels like they’re the same person). He can make you laugh like a crazy person while learning at the same time and you can check our class pics below to see the fun on our faces, these are the faces of people who are trying to stop laughing to get a decent picture hehehe.
And if you’re wondering what’s his name, ask or look for someone who has a very unique tag line and that’s “Same time, same place, same room, same people but different clothes” after the session ends.

To those who are lost and not sure about where their career will bring them, you can find this place wherever you are since we are visible in all continents except for one (unfortunately we can’t operate in Antarctica, unless you want to work with penguins who prefer to migrate to Madagascar hehehe), I can say that this is a good organization to reboot your career again, they will and can help you balance the work-life equilibrium and find the path you wanted for your career. Maybe you and I can be a part of this organization’s goal, to help others realize the promise of technology(Maybe you can try reading the last part using Optimus Prime’s voice, it’s nerdy but cool).
To all my classmates(If you found this page, no one actually reads it, hehehe),
It’s a pleasure to have all of you as my classmates for a week and I enjoyed so much learning things with you and I just wanna ask something about your picture posted on this page. I understand that some of you might not like the way how you look at the picture or don’t want to have your picture posted publicly. I will respect your decision if you wanted to have your face removed in the picture, just click here to let me know and that way I can put a smiley on your face(hopefully all of you are ok with your picture posted publicly). Sorry if I’m shy to ask all of you.
